This will be a maximum weight in the shortest time pulled event that will let you see just how powerful man’s best friend can be. Open to all healthy, fully vaccinated dogs. Proper weight pulling harness required. Pulling distance is 16 feet over packed snow. This will be a W3PO sanctioned event/rules.
Canine Weight Pulling
... is an exciting sport where a single dog, fitted with a specially designed weight-pulling or freighting harness, works to pull a cart or sled loaded with weights a set distance of 16 feet—on surfaces ranging from dirt and snow to carpet or rails—within a limited amount of time. This competition tests strength, teamwork, and determination, while honoring the history of dogs as freight haulers across the Northwoods.
It’s a thrilling spectacle for the whole family! While cheering on these remarkable athletes, spectators can enjoy the lively festival atmosphere with food, local vendors, and fun activities for all ages. Come experience the power, spirit, and excitement of canine weight pulling and make it a day to remember at the Northern Pines Sled Dog Race!
