Hello Future, Junior Mushers!
Do you dream of zooming across snowy trails and tall pines, leading your own team of fluffy speed machines, and yelling
“Lets GO!” like a boss?
Then leash up your excitement and wag your tails on over to the Northern Pines Junior Dog Musher Boot Camp! This camp is made just for aspiring/curious mushers, ages 10–18 who are itching to fetch some mushing know-how (no experience needed — just puppy-like curiosity 🐶).
We’re bringing in three legendary top dogs of the mushing world:
🦴 Martens Mushing (Iron River, WI), a local mushing family with actual Jr. Iditarod mushing experience. -- 🦴 Ann Stead (Duluth, MN) — she’s been training mushers for decades, which in dog years is basically… forever! 🦴
Jennifer Freking (Finland, MN) — part of the famous Freking mushing dynasty and is a veterinarian. These folks practically eat, sleep, and breathe sled dogs (well, not literally… that would be weird).
But wait, the tail-wagging doesn’t stop there! Two of our younger “pup stars,” Morgen Martens and Elena Freking, will also be your Junior Musher presenters — proof that even the next generation can lead the pack!
What’s on the menu for the day? (Besides pizza, of course 🍕🐕)
- A 1-mile cart ride with a real sled dog team — hang on tight, it’s gonna be a howling good time!
- Games & group activities that’ll make you laugh so hard your sled might flip.
- Hands-on dog care & training tips (aka how not to get outsmarted by your own pups).
- Mushing trivia & safety lessons — because even top dogs need to know the rules of the trail.
- A sit-down with Morgen & Elena where you can ask, “What’s it really like to mush with a pack of furry rocket engines?”

Let’s all meet at the Northern Pines Golf & Event Center on November 8th, 2025.
Presentations will begin at 8am and conclude at 4pm. Registrations deadline is October 29, 2025.
P.S. Did we mention pizza? Because yes, there will be pizza. And no, you don’t have to share with the dogs because after all, their professional athletes and need their NutiSource Dog Food!
